Paula Chowles is EP and founder of Never Not Productions, driving standout work across both documentary and branded worlds. Her credits range from the Emmy-nominated Netflix’s Abstract: The Art of Design to cinematic brand films for Nike, Sony, Lyft, and IBM.

As a director, Paula’s known for turning complex ideas into compelling, character-driven stories. She’s helmed a poetic short film exploring the meaning of time through Japanese philosophy and led a three-part series on Sony’s most ambitious AI project — selected for Tribeca’s X Award in 2023.

She also creatively produced all of the motion graphics for Season 2 of Abstract, earning the show a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Main Title Design.

Originally from South Africa, Paula cut her teeth as a broadcast journalist at eNCA, covering all angles of the country’s young democracy. After relocating to San Francisco, she produced sharp, socially driven stories for AJ+. She later took the reins as Executive Producer at WIRED before joining GDP, where she built a fully-stacked production arm — work that ultimately led her to launch Never Not Productions.

With multiple awards for reporting on human rights, health, and politics, Paula brings that same instinct for powerful storytelling to every project, blending journalism with cinematic craft to create work that resonates.
